Foreign Minister Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe is attending the Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Seoul, where African and South Korean officials are discussing stronger cooperation on trade, investment and global challenges.
The meeting, which runs from May 31 to June 2, has brought together representatives from 50 African countries and several regional organizations. Discussions are focused on economic cooperation, climate change, public health, food security and security issues.
Speaking at the opening session, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun said growing challenges, including supply chain disruptions, energy concerns and food insecurity, require closer cooperation between Africa and South Korea.
“Countries cannot solve these challenges alone,” Cho said.
Rwanda’s participation comes as Kigali seeks to expand partnerships with Asian countries in trade, technology and investment.
The meeting follows the first South Korea-Africa Summit, held in 2024, which aimed to strengthen political and economic ties between South Korea and African nations.
Officials are expected to discuss ways to deepen cooperation and identify joint responses to global challenges while promoting sustainable development and economic growth.
