The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has issued a warning to the public about individuals impersonating the agency through promotional activities tied to the country’s tourism brand, “Visit Rwanda.”

In a statement posted on its X page on Jan. 27, 2026, RDB said the impersonators use fake identities and unauthorized marketing tactics to solicit money from unsuspecting members of the public.

RDB said the scammers are driven by personal financial gain and urged the public to confirm the legitimacy of anyone claiming to represent the board.

“RDB reminds the public that it does not charge for services or information through individuals, intermediaries or unauthorized organizations,” the statement said. “All RDB activities and promotional campaigns are conducted through RDB’s official channels and social media platforms. Any fees charged for services are processed through official procedures established by RDB.”

The board urged anyone who encounters such suspicious activities to report them directly through RDB’s official phone lines and social media accounts.

RDB also asked the public to carefully verify the identity of people claiming to be RDB representatives, and to report any misleading or fraudulent behavior to the board.
