Rwanda’s women’s sitting volleyball team returned home Thursday evening after winning the African Championship title in Nairobi, Kenya, and securing a spot at the 2026 Sitting Volleyball World Championship in China.
The national team dominated the competition, defeating host nation Kenya in all five matches of the series. The final match, played on Wednesday, ended in a straight-set victory for Rwanda, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20).
Rwanda and Kenya will represent Africa at the upcoming World Championship.
This marks the second consecutive African title for Rwanda, once again defeating Kenya in the finals.
The women’s team arrived in Kigali on the evening of July 10, following the earlier return of the men’s team, which also qualified for the World Championship after finishing second in the continental tournament.
