Twelve projects have been chosen to move forward in the Tangira StartUp TV contest, marking the show’s debut in Rwanda.

The selected initiatives were picked from an initial pool of 50 entries that participated in the competition’s public voting phase. The evaluation process combined public input with expert judgment, with 80% of the decision resting on a panel of judges and 20% on digital votes cast by the public. The chosen projects showcase a wide range of creative ideas aimed at generating positive social impact.

The contest is designed to empower emerging entrepreneurs by offering training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and financial support to help turn their ideas into viable businesses.

Speaking to the media, business mentor Mudenge Ingabire Phionah highlighted that the 12 advancing participants were chosen for the originality of their ideas and the potential community benefits. She noted that many young Rwandans are eager to launch businesses but often lack the necessary resources and guidance. “Young people are ambitious, but they often don’t have the preparation needed for success. Our goal is to help them develop projects that are well-structured, high-quality, and sustainable,” she said.

Remmy Lubega, the show’s Executive Producer and CEO of RG-Consult Inc., said the competition’s primary goal is to give young entrepreneurs visibility and a platform to showcase their ideas.

He emphasized that lack of exposure is one of the biggest hurdles for emerging business owners, and Tangira StartUp TV seeks to bridge that gap. “This initiative opens doors for entrepreneurs to meet investors, find partners, and reach wider audiences,” Lubega explained.

The 12 selected entrepreneurs will benefit from mentorship and training programs to refine their projects before appearing before the judges in a televised segment. The competition will unfold on Igihe TV across six phases, with weekly winners being announced until the final six projects compete for the grand prize.

The ultimate winners will share prizes exceeding 10 million Rwandan Francs, along with other rewards designed to support the growth of their businesses.

Tangira StartUp TV is backed by a broad network of partners, including BRD, ICT Chamber, RSE, 250Startups Incubator, BPN, ESP, Aba VIP, Itara Productions, Nep Filmz, and RG-Consult Inc.
